Been seeing some great posts lately! Nice job all! I hit Verona park pond on opening day. Water was pretty off color and the wind was steady. Conditions weren't great for lures but the powerbait crowd seemed to do well. Saw no less than 6-7 breeders caught over a 3 hour period. All but one was kept.
Friday I hit a state park stream to rinse off the skunk. Bounced around a bit catching a fish here and there. Last spot I hit, which was already being shared by 2 guys, yielded a nice male breeder bow. :D Short, stocky, shaped like a football with a well defined kype. Nice passerby offered to take a pic but while handing off the phone the fish self released. Eh, was gonna let him go anyway.......
Saturday I hit the sheds for the first trip of the season. Again the wind was steady and the lake was choppy but we launched anyway. Struggled most of the day with the chop but later on headed to a nice calm cove out of the wind. Picked up 2 fish in short order. One decent pickerel and an unbelievable smallie!!! Bronze bomber, Slammer Sammy??? Wasn't a great day on the water but the end result was definitely worth the effort...........
