Hopefully an alternative to MSA and some much needed attention for recreational anglers.

Lord knows us recs have been getting the short end of the shaft for many years now. The rigidness of the MSA is ridiculous and hopefully they will fix its many flaws.

Time to write your congressman urging him or her to support H.R. 2023 "Modernizing Recreational Fisheries Management Act of 2017".

The bill is available online now. While it appears to be an amendment to the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation Management Act and geared mostly towards the Gulf of Mexico and South Atlantic, the legislative finding of “(13) While both provide significant cultural and economic benefits to the Nation, recreational fishing and commercial fishing are fundamentally different activities, therefore requiring management approaches adapted to the characteristics of each sector.”, is a major milestone for recreational fisherman.
Please make sure to reach out to your district congressman and urge them to support this bill!
