I read a post last week on here about the first saltwater fish everyone caught and seeing these pics of the ol Captains I was wondering if anyone remembers Capt Percy Giddes. He chartered an old wooden boat out of Forked River in the 60's,70's and my family fished with him in the 80's. His boat was named the Gail after his daughter. I have so many memories with him as a child . We chartered him a few times a year for blues, fluke and weakfish in the bay. I thought I'd give it a shot if anyone on here remembers him and may have some pics. Percy left us in 1994. He was a big part of my summers growing up. We all looked forward to those trips . Thanks

Remember Percy Giddes as far back as the 50's when he had a sporting goods store in NJ ! He was thee weakfish guy for many years in Barneget bay as posted earlier . Guys like him Otto Reut , Joe Renzo & many others were recognized anglers when I was growing up .
That era took a lot of work to develop a fishery no internet anglers back then.

Capt Lou, it's great to hear you bring up Otto Ruet. That's all my dad and my grandfather used to talk about when we'd talk fishing. They fished with him a lot and said he was one of the best. I have pictures of a 50 and 60 lb Bass caught on the same trip. I believe this was in the 1960's. They would troll with surgical tubes in the month of July. I never heard the end of it. Thanks for bringing up some great memories. Gotta look for those pics now
