View Full Version : Blackfish jigging with clam??

This past season was the best blackfishing I had ever in my lifetime using a jig.. this time of year I no the blackies like softer baits. I was wondering if anyone had used a jig with clam for blackfish and how did you do... im hoping to get out next week and get the dust off of my blackfish gear lol.. thanks

I'm probably the worst blackfisherman ever. Out of desperation on my last trip I did catch two with the jig and clam. Mate seemed pretty surprised. Couldn't tell if it was over the method or that I actually caught a fish.

I don't fish blackfish this time of year , however if there on clam then why not should be very little difference if any on presentation . If anything the jigs are proving a very effective method for tog period.

Yes, soft baits work with jigs.

It'll work, be sure to try cooked shrimp too.. I'm actually going to try today.

Going out tomorrow on the OE. Will be jigging with clams for a try. But
i really like my conventional with my double hook rig. If you can get tiger crabs, they are like candy to the blackfish.
Most fishing will be inshore. I will let you know how I make out tomorrow!
