Belmar Winter Flounder tips

Gonna give it a shot with Capt. Chris myself, and Kaitlyn. We are usually in the boat; any good tips to increase hookup rates from shore. We will be fishing by tennis court / play grounds for added entertainment. I would assume you can't chum from there but maybe toss some yellow corn to fire em up.

Even from shore, I would still be chumming. Great thing about a chum pot vs throwing corn is the chum pot is on the bottom where the flounder are. It stays on the bottom in one place and you cast your hooked bait down current from the pot so it stays in your slick. I also like to tie a leader and baited hook to the pot too and have caught more then a few extra fish this way.

Yeah I read that, pretty cold to as well. we got gear but that's pretty cold for kids. Oh well, Hope springs eternal !!!

Just to add to what's already been said. Especially in skinny water like Shark River, if you can, fish the outgoing and not the incoming for the reasons mentioned. I've had more trips flounder will bite on the outgoing and almost the second the tide turns around the bite dies completely, like someone hit a switch. All about temperature and how flounder feed when they come out of the mud. Even further back in the river before the tide has a chance to bring in the colder water, it seems like as soon as the outgoing reverses flounder sense it and the bite slows considerably or stops all together. Have also had some good trips when the bite in back starts dying at the inlet. You need to time that more with phase of outgoing since the current rips but when the flounder school up to move out if you hit it right you can have good success fishing the rocks east of Ocean Avenue bridge. Same in the Manasquan Inlet along the wall on the Point Pleasant side. Always fished the Belmar side at SRI, don't know if either side matters. A few hours before the end of the ebb into slack is best or an hour after flood before the tide gets cranking.
