Are the 2017 regualtions being held up by the Flounder issues? Just curious trying to figure out my charter plans.

If it wasn't so sad it would be funny. The regulations are still not finalized. Yep think about that for a few seconds. These people who are and have been in charge of setting the regulations still need to wait until the last minute to post the 2017 regulations. And yes they are the same people who say we are over fishing the stocks even though they have been regulating them for almost 30 years!

I would go ahead and book your charters based on last year's regulations. Seabass will almost definitely remain the same and since our state has openly said that we will go out of compliance on fluke, the regulations are also likely to remain the same as last year. The NJMFC usually sets those regs at their March meeting but that has been postponed until 4/13. My best guess is that they will set the sea bass regs then which should be virtually the same as last year. I doubt if they will take action to change the fluke regs from what they were last year.
