Another way of saying we FINALLY have someone as President who is not a life long politician and won't let the position define him as opposed to him defining the position. Hillary Clinton was prophetic when she said "We're going to break the glass ceiling". She failed to realize however that didn't mean voting the first women as President but voting the first non politician in a very long time. Nice to see a President who even if it's only the first few weeks of his administration hasn't forgotten his campaign promises and hasn't succumb to a politically motivated agenda. Glad to see Washington squirming for once because we actually have someone who I believe will as the Constitution says represent the people and not themselves.

Someone needs to remind our "alternative facts" president that the US Constitution has a First Amendment. He's representing his own scientific ignorance and not the people with stunts like this:

I sense a lock down of this thread on the way .
btw, I am with the deplorables on this one..

Those "government scientists" would close down all fishing, hunting, and land and resource exploitation in the country in the name of "global warming", and environmentalism... We are fishermen. many of us hunt as well, and we ARE environmentalists.. However, there does have to be some common sense as well.. DT seems to realize that govt regulations and restrictions have reached the point of saturation and absurdity.... bob

It may be too late but this should not turn into an antagonistic political war. People have opinions and they should be heard and responded to respectfully, without personal attacks or name calling.. If we resort to that then we are no better then them... Rise above it and take the high road here.

Hate to be a buzz killer but we if can't be civil and respectful, this post is coming down.

If you're going to insist on making me the topic, I've hunted and fished since the 1940s. This thread is about someone who wants to destroy your "great outdoors" and First Amendment rights too:

The "restrictions" are quite reasonable. These government paid scientists are free to publish in scientific journals. Their employers, the government, doesn't want their employees either leaking classified material or waging some kind of political agenda on social media. Quite reasonable imo.

That you Roger? Getting a heavy hit of deja vous :)

There was no shortage of guns when I served in Vietnam for 7 months in 1968 (1st Cav - Central Highlands), nor is there any scarcity of them in my home, and sensible background checks and restrictions on some of the most lethal personal WMDs on our streets are not an infringement on your Second Amendment rights as the "well regulated militia" you and the ever-intrepid Ted Nugent (http://www.thesmokinggun.com/buster/ted-nugent-draft-dodger-467132) imagine yourselves to be, despite Donald Trump's outright lies about repealing that Constitutional amendment.

Look We know You and the other Snowflakes are still upset that Your abortions will no longer be covered by Medicaid. But sweetie you have to grow up and put Your big boy pants on. We are going to fish, hunt and trap till our arms fall off. We will have all the unrestricted guns We want. We are going to pump, frack, pipeline, drill and burn, YES BURN, all the oil we want. The EPA will be reduced to the size of a convenience store. The supreme court will be rock solid conservative for the next 50 years. We will have a border again. Hillary will be home knitting where she belongs And there's not a damn thing You can do about it!

With all due respect capt Ron.. This section is for ALL salt water fishing related topics.. At times it seems like its a "reports" section, but thats only part of what it is.. There are a lot of members here that want to just discuss related points of interest that impact the fishery we all enjoy.
You could very well be right however, maybe its time Gerry considers putting in a "reports only" section, and not combine the topic discussion with the daily fishing reports..
I personally enjoy the reports very well, but really enjoy the discussion and sharing of thoughts, ideas and experiences a LOT more.. I hope the sharing of thoughts opinions and knowledge is not pushed aside in favor of deck shots.... bob

Meant to say in Philadelphia not on Philadelphia. My post was not meant to stirr up a controversy here on NJ Fishing.com I know it should just be about fishing. It's just that I will be turning 72 next month and that is the first time a President making a speech has mentioned hunter and fisherman rights. Wondering does that mean Jeopardy will have a category Hunting or Fishing ! I don't think so. Anyway thanks for all the comments and looking forward to another fishing season. When Tump and congress in total control by the gop gets done gutting the EPA and gets rid of all the environmental rules and regs the big corporations will own or get to lease a lot of your fishing and hunting land and when they get done mining, fracking and poisioning the water for profit without consequence it will be a barren wasteland not fit for hunting fishing or living on. You wont have to worry about things like how many fish to keep or seasons closings and openings no matter your political preference. Like the old indian saying when there is nothing left to subsist on you cannot eat money.

President Trump mentioned us in his speech in Philly. That is a whole lot more than Obama did eight years. I respect every veteran but this is not the place nor the time. There are hundreds of veterans on this site. This is about summer flounder and fixing the broken fisheries management government agency.

As fisherman and sportsman we are concerned with the environment. But I do not believe in the zero tolerance heavy handed tactics of the left. And those who side with the left are siding with those who would take away our rights. Yes the climate change crowd is in with PETA the PEW trusts and many other well funded anti hunting anti fishing extreme environmental groups attempting to take away our rights. And we must fight them or our rights are lost. We now have a president who seems to care about us. Lets support him and the organisations fighting for us such as the RFA the save the summer flounder group the NRA and so on. And reject the extreme environmentalists and all their friends on the left who some here seem to support. And to those few here siding with the left I say OPEN YOUR EYES...Charlie

Yeah,,,, ok...

I am sure the president wants to poison everything and everyone including his own children and grandchildren, just so he can somehow become a trillionaire instead of a billionaire at the age of 70...

I for one feel he is more common sense than ideological, and wants common sense regulation which NO ONE opposes rather than draconian radical left wing regulations which only California type fruit/nut leftists can appreciate,,

Lets just wait and see what happens with the new president before making ludicrous comments about where he stands on the environment, and related entities.
[fisheries/parkland/game reserve lands etc].
If he wantonly starts poisoning the water, raping the land and killing off all the game, I'll be standing right beside you with a protest sign.. Meantime, give the man the benefit of the doubt, the way a LOT of us "righties"gave a fair shot to President Obama, even though we didn't vote for him... bob

Trump could care less about how he becomes a trillionaire and less about anything that gets in the way. All you have to do is look at the cabinet appointees and their stands on the environment and other issues. Obama was obstructed in all that he tried to even if it was for the benefit of the common working man and all citizens by the congress that is still in place. They did not respect Obama at all. The senate leader Mc Connell stated that it was his job to stop Obama from achieving anything. On Obamas inauguration day the republicans met in a hotel to plot against Obama on the day he took the oath of office. The senate leader swore to uphold the constituition not plot against the sitting president. He should be hung by his balls in public. Oh wait he doesn't have any balls. I would settle for disemboweling.
