Booked a trip 5 days on the bayou with voodoo charters in la, have never been but hear it's one of the primo spots to fish in the USA? We are going offshore one day and redfishing two others days. We are staying in a condo supplied by voodoo which looks nice and most likely be cooking most of our meals do to lack of life there! Lol anyone been or have an ideas for food, fishing or whatever in the area. We are going in early April, even any ideas of what's running best at that time?
Thanks for any advice in advance

Might be early for it but rig fishing for mangrove snapper is great fun. They are mostly 4-8lbers there. Chumming and freelining, running to the back of the boat when you hook up to get them away from the rig. Drop 40 feet down and you are into red snapper. Usually you pick up a cobia or two as bycatch.

Went back in mid-March 2015 and had a BLAST offshore although a 60 mile run offshore is still 2 hours :D

We did OK on Yellowfin Tuna - the big one we got went around 70 with smaller units in the 20/30lbs range. Wound up with over 100 lbs of tuna on the plane!

Other boats did better with some 100lb+ units and also got Blackfin as well as mixed bag near the oil wells (Amberjack / Wahoo etc).

It's a SPECTACULARLY beautiful place to fish and while we stayed in New Orleans (90 min drive), the condos nearby looked comfortable and clean. Not a huge amount of nightlife in that area but there we did have a killer meal at the Venice Marina where most of the boats dock / weigh in etc. Great crawfish, gumbo, jambalaya etc.

Two pics attached. Feel free to PM with any other q's. And ENJOY - it's truly a bucket list type of place!
