I'm a regular on party and charters (~10 years), never saw a whiting.

For the last 3 summers I've been on the paramount almost every weekend.....this summer I saw 1 caught, and most people had a "holy sh*t" look to them.

It might have been in the spring but still most people were in disbelief, they even got the captain to absolutely make sure it was a whiting.

Was having this discussion with friends last Friday. We were having lunch and I said back in the day we could have jump on a magic hour trip for some fishing after lunch. I'm guessing the ling went wherever the whiting have gone. The last time I saw a whiting I was up fishing in NH.

I can see that you haven't lost your sense of humor. How is your friend Kevin these days?

those were the best trips by far!!!!! fishing with capt ron sr between the channels for huge weakfish, blues, stripers and what ever else would bite.a handful of nordic eels in a few different colors a good jig stick is all ya needed. then when that was done grab a few 6 oz bridgeports and some silver teasers and we would jig whiting.used to stop at leroy's and do the 2 for 1 on the smoked whitting.of all that is gone i miss the 3-9 trips the most

And I surely hope we don't have a thread like this in 10 years about fish we're catching right now....

Try the Super Cat or Sea Fox out of AH, or the Capt. Bill Van out of Belmar. I would tell you to check their websites for info, but the internet hasn't been invented yet.
