Petition is in the top 15% of petitions, in 2 hours! People are angry!!
I've already told my crew they better sign the petition and or donate to the RFA. If they don't they can fish elsewhere.
Not a bad way to spread the word.

Done, please also share this with your friends and post it on other FB pages and websites.

Also you may want to listen to Tom Pagliaroli's interview with Tom Fote tomorrow morning.

During the 12/31 broadcast of Rack & Fin Radio, JCAA legislative chairman Tom Fote breaks down the horrific fluke options for 2017 and what can, and must be done to prevent this...including showing at the 1/5 meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Atlantic County Library (306 East Jimmie Leeds Rd., Galloway), and getting involved contacting local, county, state and federal via e-mail, Twitter and good ol' snail mail expressing your opinion. Fote stresses the far reaching economic impacts these limits will have. This is a great follow to RFA executive director Jimmy Donofrio's appearance last Saturday (to all: I appreciate the many comments on the private lines...thanks for listening!). Also, Capt. Scott Newhall from Time Out Fishing Charters in Absecon weighs in with an anvil regarding the pending regs, the incredibly flawed data, his '16 fluking experiences and why the pending limits/season length are a debacle. Saturday morning, 6-7 a.m. on WPG 1450 AM and WPG 104.1 FM South Jersey's Talks Station, and 7-8 a.m. on the 50k watt 97.3 ESPN FM. Also streaming line 7-8 a.m. on 973espn.com

I think this is a great opportunity to spread the word about the petition in addition to showing up on 1/5/17 in Galloway.
The majority of the comments on the petition fall into 2 categories:
1-Sheer terror on what will happen to the for hire fleet, mom and pop tackle stores and small marinas. A few recreational anglers commented they may not put their boat in the water as a form of protest.
2-A complete lack of trust regarding the science related to the size of the fish population as well as the demand we as fisherman place upon that population.

The logical thing to do is remain status quo until the science is improved. That's an option we really need to demand!

The Council and Board are developing a comprehensive amendment to revisit
important elements of the summer flounder fishery management plan (FMP). The
Fisheries Forum presented a summary as well as feedback and facilitated further
discussion of revised goals and objectives for the summer flounder fishery. Based
on the discussion, the Summer Flounder Amendment Fishery Management Action
Team (FMAT) will refine the draft revision to the goals and objectives for future
review by the Council and Board. FMAT did recommend splitting recreational
issues into separate actions due to ongoing changes to the recreational catch
estimate methodology, the Council and Board did not take action to separate these
issues at this time.

Thank you to all the people who took the time to sign the petition and write comments about the fluke proposal.
Earlier today I forwarded the petition with over 4,000 signatures and over 1,500 comments to Kirby rootes muddy at the ASMfC.
The original intent was to use the petition to influence legislators to get involved. We have accomplished that goal, as there is bipartisan support in asking for emergency relief from this proposal.
The petition will remain open until Wilbur Ross is confirmed as head of the department of commerce. It will then be forwarded to him along with the handwritten signatures we are still collecting.
I feel very good about our chances of squashing this proposal. I'm going to go out and buy a nice custom buck tail rod and reel combo as a reward!
Thank you again!
