left the dock at 11pm tuesday night.was a little sporty and a long ride out.we anchor up and things were slow to get started.as it began to get light the porgy's
started but the sea bass were still slow.i guess around 7am the bass got the
diner bell and began to bite.i was using a gold ava 47 and had 5 jumbos in the box by 7:30.with the wind and seas really not in our favor we would swing on and off the fish even with 2 anchors out.we would pick and pluck until things dried up and then the capt would make a wiggle and we would pick some more.
i jigged all day and ended with a real good catch{orl}.all the sea bass on the jig were jumbos and they were slamming the jig.the guy with bait that waited for the good bites did well with the sea bass but the peeps that swung at everything were doing good with the porgy's.can't say enough about the capt and crew who did everything they could for us,even stayed an hour and a half late so peeps could catch.just glad to have gotten one more trip in.

a little bouncy but fishable.they wanted it squided not jigged and some were 20-25ft off the wreck.caught them on gold and on silver.no tails or teasers.

that was a big one for sure.having grilled mako tonight.i think that why the fishing was off and on.seemed to get a little better once they put that shark in the boat.

I always fish the bow on those trips just wish the heated handrails went all the way up there Just wondering about the shark what was it and how big We had a big mako bothering us on mondays trip

i think it was 106 inches long and 76" round.had 3 sea bass 2 dogfish,1 porgy &
a octopus in his gut.i'm guess 400-420lbs.i helped put it in the boat but went back to jigging when the measurements were being taken.biggest i ever boated
or helped boat.

Agreed, it would be nice if the heat didn't stop where the cabin ends

Nice report Ed, glad you got 'em. 400lb mako caught on a sea bass rig? Good thing it wasn't a double.

no no we hooked him up on a shark rig.he ate a sea bass of of someones line first and we had the rod rigged and ready with a nice bluefish fillet.i don't know if it was the same one or not but the mako was seen the last 3 trips.that bluefish was not in the water 5 minutes and game on.the mako did not jump once about a 45 minute battle and 2 flying gaffs and 3 shots from the bang stick and he was ours.

Pointy part of the boat is where the men are separated from the others
