Wondering why the party boats that blackfish don't supply white leggers and green crabs. I know they all supply green crabs but why not supply whites also. Can white leggers be that much more money then green crabs

Yes they are more expensive because most whiteleggers come from NY from the guys that I ask.. many greens can be had simply by dropping a crap pot down in a local marina i.e shark river for example... obviously if it's a head boat they need more greens then what a few pots would bring up but you get my drift..

I bought white leggers at a bait store Sunday. They said they were the same price. 40$ for a half bushel. Didn't make sense to me because I always heard they were more. Once I got out I realized most were almost ready to die or dead:mad::mad::mad:

Same thing here, half of the bushel were dead.......but i still caught my limit that day.

Lesson learned, if someone tells you a bushel of whites are the same price as a bushel of greens, your antenna should go up. Not possible. From what I understand, whites are more of a deep water crab and more difficult / expensive to harvest. You can get them in the rivers too but I believe most are caught ocean side. I would also assume green crabs are more prolific then whites as well effecting price.

Curious what tackle shops sold you the whites, that's a real douche move. I always check them at the store for that exact reason but if I didn't and got to the grounds only to find out I was charged half price for dead crabs it would be the last time I bought from that shop. If the proprietor tells you there not in good shape so you at least have a decision to make completely different story but to sell you crap under false pretenses is wrong and as I said it would be the last time I purchased anything from that shop. I understand bait has a shelf life but the risk of that should be the proprietors, not the customers.

Well since you asked that would be everyones favorite Julians lol. Pete at atlantic is where I normally stop but I didn't call ahead and he didn't have any so I bought them at Julians. And no he never told me they were in bad shape. But yes he told me either the greens or whites were 40$ for a half bushel. They were either dead or very very inactive:mad:
