Me, Joey, King of the Knoll and Dfish got out on Sunday, we left out of Leonardo around 730. The bay was a bit messy in the stiff NW but the ocean was beautiful. We did not have the crazy current we've been experiencing recently so expectations were high.

First spot we had instant life on jigs and rigs. Thought we were in for a banner day but it fizzled out. We made a move or 2 and picked and plucked the rest of the day...

Dfish had the hot hand for sure, followed by Joey and the King. As for me, let's just say I'm still getting the hang of jigging. Somewhere around 20 keepers for us, nothing big, and a similar number of shorts.

We were visited by one of the for hire fish and game surveyors back at the dock. Never thought I'd see one in our marina this time of year since 90% of the slips are empty...

The boats gets pulled this week so time to reintroduce myself to the wife and hit some charter and party boats.

we were out Sunday too and had terrible fishing till about noon at the spots we tried. after that we had some great spots! reading that you found the opposite (good bite in the morning) just shows me how important it is to keep trying new spots if the bite isn't happening where you are I guess rather than just assuming the bite needs to pick up at the current spot.

Always a difficult call, moving or not moving....Sometimes it works out and other times not. I think if it's slow and you are going to move, it has to be a big one. Totally different area, depths and different types of structure etc.

Some days for whatever reason they just shut down and you're screwed no matter where you go. Other days you change spots, you pluck a few fish when you first get there and then nothing.....

This is why this fishery is so addictive and rewarding and the people with experience and the energy usually rise to the top.

Thanks again gentlemen! Great to get out with y'all.
Side note: if you find the end of my finger on the dock, let me know, I'd like it back...
