Today we had Capt Rick and his crew on for a bass trip.
Started out in the dark found bait right outside our inlet but found no fish in the pods. We then took a ride and found peanuts getting destroyed by schoolie sized bass right in the surf --- the guys went to work right away with the shads and had their limit of bonus fish in under 15 minutes. Big swell in tight made it tough but I was able to keep the bow pointed east and the stern right in on the beach where the fish were. We were also able to pull a few legit keepers out of the peanuts also.
We then took a ride, found great marks, and some peanuts and continued to catch on shads adding another keeper to the mix while releasing several other slots and shorts.
Boat traffic killed the bite - so we went up on the troll and picked a few bass (1 more keeper) and a couple shorts as well as jumbo bluefish on rigs - but that was short lived.
Finished up back in the bunker where GATOR sized blues were destroying the pods - we were able to land a few and release a few while breaking several off also.
Real nice day, finished with 9 bass in the box (the limit of bonus tag slot fish + 3 keepers to 30") and a few blues. Thanks for coming out guys!
