anyone know of any not so expensive boat launches along the NY side of the bay? Out close to the rock piles? my buddy wants to trailer his small boat in and try some blackfishing in the bay.
Only one i know is great kills, but i can't seem to find how much it costs. Only thing i found was $50 parking permit which i'm assuming can't be accurate for a one time launch.
Any info will be greatly appreciated otherwise it'll basically be a 'wing it' day haha.

It's a little bit of a ride, but there's a ramp at Liberty State Park in Jersey City. I'm sure you could check their website for the cost. I believe they have a ticket machine near the ramp to make payment & get the appropriate parking permit.

Maybe consider the Sound if you can't find a good launch on Staten Island; good blackfishing so far this season. You're crossing that bridge anyway!

Chris,
If memory servers me right there is a ramp at Great Kills Park at staten island. Also I believe Captains Marina has a ramp as well.
As far as Brooklyn goes you can try Gateway Marina I know they got a ramp just not sure if they let you launch of what fees they would charge.

There is a ramp just north of the Outer Bridge crossing in Sewaren.
A ramp in South Amboy.
A ramp at Zubach in Morgan Creek.
A ramp in Keyport.
A ramp in Keansburg too.

And free. Great Kills is part of the federal park system. They only do yearly passes. SI sucks on ramps and Manhattan is even worse.
Manhattan has none. In Jamaica Bay there are a few ramps too, if you're married to NYC.
BTW what the toll price across the VZ with a trailer? $30 $40? lol

It's less than a 1/2 hour run from Liberty State Park to Hoffman & Swinburne.
