Sat: Open Boat with George, Bob, Denise, Craig and friends. Got an early start and ran up north in the dark to try and avoid the crowds. As we pulled into the not so secret spot there were already a million boats on station in the dark. Needless to say we gave it our all, snagging, Jigging, trolling…nothing worked. Around mid-morning we decided to call it quits on the Bass, employ plan B and try for some blackfish. We found a scratchy bite but had a hard time staying on the piece with the wind out of the west and current running north/south, we were swinging all over the pace. With the wind slacking off a bit I mover a little further offshore and found a nice pick but tons of shorts. Was able to put a meager catch together but all in all a tough day.

Sun: Had local Point Pleasant boys Gary/Brian and friends on board for an afternoon trip. Headed to a different area and founds tons of life and lot less traffic, from the sounds of it there had been a decent bite earlier that morning so we were hopeful that it would turn on big time right before sunset. We had fish on immediately however they were not the right kind….giant monster blue fish. The guys had a blast however, turning it into some sort of perverse drinking game. With the crew’s arms a few inches longer then when we started and the wind kicking pretty hard out of the north we headed for the barn just as the sun was going down. The only one who was disappointed that we didn’t put a bass in the boat was me!
