I believe their rods are graphite and would not be my first choice for running spoons since they tend to be stiffer then glass rods.. Most of the custom rod builders like Kevin Bogan use glass rods with very whippy parabolic tips since the what you want to make the spoons run best.

If you are looking to save some money you might consider getting some standard 7 foot conventional glass trolling rods with slick butts rated for 30 pounds with a nice soft tip. Rather then run wire, run braid with a drail weight out in front of the spoon to make them sink better. Plus you can use these rods for other purposes.

Gerry

I have a pair of 8 foot Fenwick rods rated for 17 - 30 lb (30/50 braid). Cork butts. Worth a shot? I use them for trolling Stretch plugs and have caught blues up to 15 + pounds on them with no problem

Sure, I'd give them a shot... Only problem is the cork butts. When you hook up there is going to be a fair amount of pressure on the rod and the cork butt is going to make it harder to get it out of the rod holder. That and eventually the cork is likey to get fatigued from the pressure on it in the rod holder. This is why trolling rods typically have slick butts made with either aluminum or hard plastics.

IMO the 8'4" Tsunami Spoon rods are excellent spoon rods. They are a composite blank containing both fiberglass and graphite...the best of both worlds. They are not stiff at all.

Have 2 star rods with penn 113h's wire line, they are perfect, not a single issue so far! Caught 3 bass with em first time using them, picked them up from a fellow member on here. They have nice action and when on troll they have the "pump" that they are supposed to have while trolling. Star rod is perfect for the price in my opinion!

I'll post the model when I get home. I know Pete at Atlantic bait has the same ones on the rack.
