We limited out today, by 9 AM, then we released a good deal of keepers and shorts, but not too many shorts. The striped bass fishing was excellent, and the weather was beautiful, pretty much a picture-perfect day. We were able to come home a little bit early, clean the fish , and everybody got to go to dinner or Watch their favorite game. Our next open day is Tuesday. And we will be taking advantage of the wonderful stripe bass fishing up here the bay for a few more days, and then, We will move back down to shark River. I made an observation today, and I feel that it's important to put it up here, because nobody ever talks about this. I watched three guys in a very expensive beautiful 35 foot contender , they were jigging bass, And one guy was standing right up in the elevated part of the bow, this beautiful boat came equipped with a open array radar. The fellow that was up in the bow was about eye level and only a few feet, from this spinning radar antenna . This guy would probably get upset if someone lit up a cigarette next to him, he probably doesn't let his kids stay in front of a computer for long periods of time,'s or play with his cell phone . Yet he would think nothing of standing in front of a powerful machine exuding a signal . It was a crystal clear day, there's no reason to run radar on a day like this, if it was foggy, when you're standing outside fishing, the radar should be on standby . If anybody ever asked you why one of your eyes is a different color than the other one , or how come you're fishing hat is burned on one side, or your barber says to you "you have an usual case of male pattern baldness, it's only on One side of your head, " the problem is you may be fishing too close to your radar. Shut that thing down, when you pull into a fuel dock , nobody wants to have children with webbed feet , Turn it off . You would be appalled to find out that your microwave was leaking, the same microwave, that they used to call our radar range just think about it , These wonderful means of navigation and safety, are not toys, and you have to use them with caution, and be aware that you may be affecting the people around you. . Just something to think about
