Bonito??

I have seen almost nothing at all on these pages regarding bonito.. we used to get them here pretty good some years late summer into the fall.. Although I saw a lot of False Albacore reports past 6 weeks or so, I have seen next to nothing concerning bonito.. Have they pulled a disappearing act like several other species in the NY Bight?... bob

Yea odd Usually I hear some reports the only report I heard one a 13 lb on the golden eagle.😳

I forget if it was 2 or 3 seasons ago, insane amounts of bait settled in at Manasquan Ridge/East Lump area. There were crazy numbers of Bonito. Nice sized Mahi were mixed in, my best was 19.5lbs in that area. I would troll until I found the fish, then switch over to the light spinning gear. The year prior, same area was almost all falsies with the odd bonito. Water was nice and bait was there. This season and last I didn't see the same conditions and not surprisingly the fish weren't there in numbers.

I have only heard sporadic reports of Bonito, it's a shame I love fishing for them.

Haven't seen Bonita or Albiess in any numbers at Squan ridge since Sandy. Conincodence maybe, maybe not.
