9/23/16 - LBI - Day 7 - Going out with a bang

Well what can i say about today besides it was good for some and hard for others. Left the dock at 8 and headed out. Got out there and we had some wind and a decent drift. Few shorts on the first drift nothing great. We made a move and it was like a light switch, the wind just died. Almost at a stand still. Did a lot of cashing today. I got the dollar fish then proceeded to fill the cooler! Got my limit to 22in!! Nothing big. Dropped a nice fish again today. Dad started off just getting the shorts but put one in the box. Next drift he got another keeper. Then it was all shorts. He dropped a big one that just wouldnt come off the bottom. Ended the day with my 5 and dads 2. So 7 fish for the day isnt too bad. Pool fish was around 5 pounds. I dont think we are going tomorrow. Winds say gust to 30 with 20 -25 North East. So we went out with a bang. On the ride in we ran into a few whales breaking the water. Was really a sight to see. So for the total weeks take of keepers came out to be 34 keepers in 5 trips. More shorts then you could count. 3 fish over 5 pounds. The boat ran to top notch operation as always. Looking forward to next year already. It was a good season for dad and I. The freezer is stocked up with fish. Time to switch gears and get ready for bass then tog.

Had a great time last week fishing with the kid, a very productive week. Had to cut it short due to the weather, woke up to rain and wind. Found some less expensive stuff that we will have to stock up on for next year. Next up Togging which is his favorite. :D
