9/21/16 - LBI - Day 5

Got to the boat nice and early and got set up on the bow. Broke the inlet at 8am and headed to the fishing grounds. First drift on the very first drop dad slams a keeper and gets the dollar fish!! Then on the very next drop he gets hammered. Gets the fish to the boat and it turns out to be a 5.5 pounder! Nice fish. He was off to a great start. I got a keeper and we both figured it was going to be a banner day but it just wasnt. The bite was not that great today. Really had to work for the fish. Dad got another keeper and now he was ahead 3 to 1. I got back to back keepers on the very next drift. It was cool. Not a lot of bites between. Im sure we had maybe a dozen shorts a piece but nothing like earlier in the week. Ended the day with the 6 fish. Dad got 3 and I got 3. Pool fish was around 6 pounds and just beat out dad. There was a small swell on the water today and the temp dropped a little where we were fishing so that might have played a roll in why the fishing was off. We will be back at it tomorrow morning.
