left the dock Friday at 5pm and headed east to the canyons.was a little bumpy on the way out but when we got there at 11pm all had settled and condition
were good so the capt put us on the drift.no much happing till 2:30am when
we hook up with a good fish but after a very short battle the hook pulls.there were other boats around but the radio was silent as far as anyone having any luck with the tuna's.we made 3 drifts and nothing so at 7am the capt says since the tuna did not want to feed lets go see if we can get some mahi.capt pulls her up to the first pot blows the horn and its game on.mahi start coming over the rail in all sizes.we did not stay to long at each pot as you would get a good bite right away then turn to just a slow pick.we hit 8 ot 9 pots and I think everyone had one or more and some there limit or very close to it.the
mahi saved the trip for sure.all and all a good trip with the capt's and crew working there butts off and making sure all was the best it could be.
sat -sun trip was a lot better with action all through the night with mahi coming and going through the slick all night long.around 1:30 I here fish on.its not long before we see the fish and it is a pup sword.the peep got it on a jig and the mates we able to get the jig out and the sword swam away to get bigger.the mahi were swimming on the edge of the lights and a few of the peeps had light spinners set up with the 4 inch tsunami split tails.it was wild watching those mahi chase down and crush the it.with no tuna the capt again says we are going to hit a few pots on the way home.it was the same as the trip before with mahi coming in quick right away.we hit around the same amount of pots and again most if not all went home with some.great weekend in the canyons.
ps
if anyone sees or knows were the tuna are, please tell them to come home!!!
