For many who have asked including myself if Last weeks storm was going to be the end off our Fluking season the answer is NO Got call from a friend I fish with out of AH to come on down as he was into an Insane fluke bite on Thirsday. I was working so it was a no go for me. I blocked out the next day 9/9 to hopefully be part off the report rather than hearing about it. I was a little skeptical being the # of keepers they caught inside the bay just sounded like a bunch of fisherman BS I am usually always fishing the ocean targeting rocky bottom for trophy fluke so this was going to be a nice change of pace fishing the bay. I thought for sure it was going to be one of those you should have been here yesterday kind of trips but the # if keepers they were catching close to home was to much for me to not give it a try.
With one throw of the net we loaded up the live well and off we went to same area he slammed them the day before.
To say the bite was insane is an understatement. We started at 7am and we're done by around 1 pm with our 4 man limit. I had 11 keepers fishing 1 ounce Bucktail and teaser combo with both being tipped with live peanuts (match the Hatch). I have had one bad trip this year for fluke which was last week on the same boat traveling all over the ocean looking for bites. I had an open boat trip with Chad on the tagged fish that day and he cancelled the trip being he thought even though weather was good do to the swell we were not going to have a good day. Rather than taking our money he thought we would not catch well and cancelled the trip. Now that is just another reason why he is top notch captain. . I should have listened to him and not gone out last week but thought with conditions being ok minus the swell they would need to feed being previous 2 days were bad. I was dead wrong
Well now back to yesterday's trip. If I was not on this trip I would not have believed it. If you can get yourself some fresh peanuts that may be the ticket as that is what I found in there bellies when I cut them up
For those who said that Fluking is over for the year I can tell you that it is defitnrtly not. Have received many calls an emails for my yearly wrap up report so based on the good fishing that I hope is still ahead of us it will have to wait till the end of the season as I hope to continue with the great fluke season I have experienced this year. It is not time yet to put the fluke gear away just yet.
