Saturday morning started in an area I've been doing pretty good. I got one e there but the white perch and floating weeds were driving me crazy. Decided to make a move across the lake and found some fish. I hooked into two hybrids but they came unbuttoned. The white perch again were harassing the baits so made a short move and got another walleye.
Sunday I started where I left off Saturday. Not much happening so made a move to where I started Saturday. The water was cleaner and the hybrids were there chewing. They were shallower than they've been lately. I hooked 12 and landed 9. I left them chewing because I was tired of getting waked..ugh!

Very nice Anthony. Got to love finding active fish on a weekend on the Big lake! Were you marking any thermocline?

Of the 6 walleye lakes in Jersey (if you don't know them: Greenwood Lake, Monksville Reservoir, Swartswood Lake, Lake Hopatcong, and Canistear Reservoir) which one would yall say is the best. What are my best chances of catching a couple 20 inchers on my yak? Ive only caught em in Minnesota and Ontario would be nice to get one from my home state. Nice eyess btw!!!!

Yes...they were caught on the troll. However, they both hit when I picked up the rod to clear the line of weeds. They must have been following it and that little change in speed made them hit.

Yes..the thermocline is around 15 feet on the main lake. Its more noticeable early in the morning.

Thanks..I fished all those lakes but I have the most experience on Hopatcong and Swartswood. I think your best chances of catching walleyes is on Swartswood. I like to troll worm harnesses behind a 2 or 3 ounce bottom bouncer around the weed edges.

and you can troll those harnesses up in the water column too. i haven't had my baits below 20 feet all summer.

Sometimes that extra twitch, jolt or bounce elicits the strike!
