Had a bunch of my friends meet up for 1 last trip before we all begin going back to school. with 1 throw of the net, we loaded up with 150+ peanut bunker (good throw Matt) and shot off to the fluke grounds with perfect conditions. ran out to the northeast where we had a light NW wind and a running out going tide. It looked really fishy but man were we moving! We had to break out the big sinkers with a quick drift but it was manageable. Not hot fishing my any means but the size of the fish today were shocking. Shorts were there providing a good amount of action as well. We ended with 12 keepers, 2 at 9 pounds 29 and 29.5 inches(caught by me):p David got 1 at 5.5, and another at 7pounds 12 ounces. Most of these fish were thick as hell and the smallest keeper was just over 20 inches. As always, there was some tangles, sea Robbins and massive skates that got in our way. But all in all a solid day of fishing.
All of our fish were caught before 10:45, after that the current died, the wind died and the boat traffic began to build just making us flip and flop all over the place. 4 of my 5 keepers were over 4 pounds! Should have called it quits sooner but we were hoppin for a full boat limit. Pictures will be up as soon as they send them over to me.
Fluke didn't really favor any single bait today. Chartruse gulp, white gulp, new penny gulp, sea Robbin strips, peanuts u name it all caught. first big fish was caught on a gulp, second big fish on sea robbin. the deeper we were, the more fluke there were, when we came up the edge the Robbins and skates took over
