I have noticed that after a few trips BuckTailing for Fluke on rough and rocky bottoms the paint on the bottom of the bucktail is worn off. Does affect the catching ability or it really doesn't matter. Also has anyone repainted them and what type of paint should be used. These are perfectly good bucktails except for the paint so no use in tossing them out. Any answers appreciated. Thx.

Won't effect the buck tail.
Spray paint, nail Polish, ect. It will all work for a touch up.

i agree with the nail polish, you can even add a coat of clear once the paint dries.

Nail polish as stated...can also buy small jars of different color lure paint at most tackle stores including luminus & clear coat...or google "lure paint"...

I don't think I own a buck tail that had seen more than two trips so I can't offer any info about missing paint

If you lose paint before the bucktail be happy. I keep some brush on rustoleum and dollar store artist brushes for touch up.

So far this year I have been very lucky with not losing bucktails although I don't fish the real "nasty" stuff to often but I have been snaged and able to back up the boat and work it out of the rocks. Thanks for the tips. Most likely I will repaint and then lose it!
