Use straight not offset hook, it does not spin as much.

So first off...I am not an expert at this by any means :D..but in searching the internet learning as much as I can I found this video where circle hooks are used for a fluke rig. Makes some good points about the benefits related to less gut hooking. Can't speak to it from personal use but all info is good in my book ...whether it teaches what to do or not do!

Hope it helps.

I have a buddy who does quite well dragging big baits (whole squid, etc..) with circle hooks.. he understands how to properly fish a circle..and catches his share..That said, it makes absolutely no sense to use them in any kind of jigging set up.. You need to fish differently with circles.. you cannot "set the hook" in the traditional sense.. you must come tight and just reel until the hook sets itself.. Makes no sense to mix a J style (like on a jig), that you must 'set" on a bite, with a circle (say on a teaser), that you can't jerk...you will never know when to jerk and when to reel...
