Mushin Sportfishing

A Mushin update for the last few trips. Mushin has been fishing out of Cape May for July to take advantage of the Southern Canyons (Wilmington to Norfolk) and Inshore lumps and canyons for a variety of tunas, marlin, and mahi. Some trips have been better than others - boat traffic on the inshore lumps has played a big part in the day's catch landings. We have tried to adjust our fishing day schedule to allow anglers to cash in on some of these prime times - our last trip to an inshore lump gave us some hot action on nice yellowfin "like old times" but on 30# fluoro leader which resulted in lots of breakoffs. But on other days we have sat in a fleet of 200 boats and dreamed about the fish like everyone else! The canyons have given up some big eye tuna bites - but they just don't want to come into the boat! We have made fishing the deepwater canyons interesting with some yellowfin, gaffer mahi, and marlin. A recent trip included 3 white marlin and 2 blue marlin bites - not bad for a tuna boat! Winds have us sidelined today, but we will be back out tomorrow. We may continue to fish out of Cape May until further notice to take advantage of some of the fishing down in South Jersey.
