Tough day catching at the hook today...lotsa sea robins, skates, star gazers but NO fluke...caught incoming and outgoing tide....it made no difference...rangers were checking all on the beach for permits and short fish too...

Robbie you ever take a water temp in the wash? Down in CM last week it was 77 at first light and surf was a dead zone.

Yes and it was HOT, but that does not keep me from trying...will try again Wednesday just for the fun of it...heat wave coming will not help get the temp down either for next week...

Last week fluke were further up, close to the point of the hook for me when i went. Where are you catching the searobins? We only got one last time and wished for more! Are they mostly around the central beaches of sandy hook?

Love sandy hook but I think its time to drive south and get in on some kingfish from the surf this weekend.

Some years when the water temps are like this you can catch them good off of spring lake - on south.

Permits? What kind of permit do you need to fish the beach? I've been there a few times and just drove right in to the fishing beach but had no clue I needed a permit.
