My old man and me left the dock around 7am, stopped to snag a few bunker in the bay and finished our run to the fluke grounds around 745. Perfect conditions again with a light west wind and an outgoing current. To begin we had tons and tons of bites. The bites were weird though and we had a very low hook up ratio. They weren't commiting to the gulp, so I switched over to fish bunker strips and it was game on. I alone had 4 keepers in the boat by 845. Just when things looked good, an outgoing ship killed the bite. Hammered away in the area for a while with a pick of shorts, but it was time to leave the channels with the slow bite and building traffic. (Should have left a lot earlier).
I set us up where we had all of our fish Friday afternoon and it was lights out fishing. Keepers and shorts in the mix all on gulp. I ended the day with 8 keepers with numerous throwbacks at 17.999 and my dad finished with his 5. Lots of solid fish, most of our keepers were 20-23 inches. With the bite as hot as it was we made a few more drifts after we limited hoping to find a big fish that we can C&R but we couldn't find any over 5 pounds. Solid day of fishing with my old man, beautiful weather as well.
Pictures will be up as soon as he sends them
