Had the pleasure of going out with my old man and 2 boys. Started the day with the safety lecture, life jackets, you know how to swim, stay clam and a plan if something happens...."Dad, you know that nothing will happen so let's go fishing."

We netted some peanut bunker and off to the fluke grounds of The Reach Channel. Slack tide so nothing for the first 30 minutes. Explained to the boys that it will get better and it did. My old man bucktails a 4 pound fluke followed by numerous shorts and quality fish mixed in. Finished the day with 8 keepers to 7 lb and memories that will last a lifetime. Around 1 PM the wind started and we called it a day.

My buddy cleaned the fish as me and my boys cleaned the boat. Last thing to clean was the cooler that the fish were in. As the boys were walking it down to the boat...wooooops Keefe Jr. goes in the water. Good thing we had the talk  because the only thing he kept saying as he was in the water was, "I don't want to loose my flipflops."

Great day on the water with memories of a lifetime. Not sure if we are crabbing or fishing tomorrow.

Those kids will remember that day forever out fishing with Dad and Pops. Probably couldn't sleep the night before. I remember those days fishing as a kid and to this day, I still can't sleep the night before I know I'm going out fishing.

I wish more people would take interest in getting kids involved in our great sport. They don't have to be yours either. Nephews, neighbors, friends of your kids, etc... They can all benefit from time spent on the water.

Keefe,

Great pics and memories with three generations of the Vallaro family. Special times with my father, who passed 10 years ago, was going to MLB games, Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and one trip to spring training in Florida with him and my 10 year old son. Priceless. We never went fishing. Wish we did...

Regards to JP.

Amen Gerry! I know several Dads ' now granddad' that took their kids fishing and they all turned out to become fine adults.

Youngest woke up this morning and asked, "Daddy can we go again today?" Went crabbing instead but he has the fishing fever.
