Hosted our annual Exploratory Overnight Canyon trip with my son and grandson and four regular customers. Started at the tip of the Hudson in 75 degree water and had action in the afternoon picking four small yellowfins only keeping one for the table. Trolled down the west wall and up the east wall with no bites but we witnessed the largest concentrtation of dolphins and pilot whales I have ever seen, acres and acres of life. Set up for sharking on the west flats at dark and were inundated with dolphins the entire night with one shark bite off for our efforts.. Just before dawn fog rolled in and stayed with us till 9 am. Trolled the tip area again with no bites and ran to the Tower area hoping for a Bluefin. Trolling just past the tower the way back islander/ballyhoo rod went off and we fought and boated a 43" Bluefin which saved the trip. Calm weather, family time, good friends and some tuna action for our first offshore trip. Priceless!
