We have a last minute trip on July 4 weekend if interested - 1 spot - $899 on the 48 Viking Out of Cape May - might last a few hours after I post this so don't wait - call 732-272-4445 or email adam@canyonrunner.com
Capt. Phil Dulanie and Capt. Mike Zajac killing it like it's 2012!
"Meet the New Boss Same as the Old Boss"
First trip back together since Capt. Mike went private boating and they didn't miss a beat. Mike worked with us for 13 years - then 3 years on a private boat - and now is back at it for 2016 enjoying the Canyon Runner Team!
With Dr. John Bednar charter on the boat Wednesday to Thursday we were praying for a great trip and we got it. Capt. Phil leaving out of Manasquan put the charter into a great bite from 2pm to 5pm Wednesday with multiples of yellowfin with 6 nice ones and 12 released. They finished off that bite with a 140 big-eye on the deck. They spiced up the trip with big mahi and finished up at night with a nice mako.
June Is Over - Here Comes July
2016 To Date - 25 Overnighters in the Books - 500+ Yellowfin/Bluefin, 42 Makos, Blue Marlin, White Marlin & Multiple Big-Eyes
REMEMBER MORE THAN HALF OF WHAT WE CAUGHT WAS RELEASED!
Friday Trip - 65 Yellowfin and 2 Big-Eyes with the Harry Smith Charter
Captain Deane Lambros and Capt. Carl Geiger had one for the ages Friday to Saturday with the Harry Smith charter. Fishing out of South Jersey Marina again as the best fishing continued to be to the south. With the way we set up our trips we stay flexible to leave at the best possible time so even though we were running an overnighter we decided to leave at midnight to put the odds in the charter's favor - and boy did it.
They got up on the troll by 5am and by 7am had close to 20 yellowfin with around 10 in the 30-50 pound class. They trolled the rest of the day with never more than mere moments between bites. Moving in and out of the warmer water and from 100-200 fathoms the yellowfins were everywhere - triples, quads, and then sum again and again all the way up to 11 on at the same time of 30-40 pound fish - watch the video!
Final count - 65 yellowfin in a day trip as we came home early and didn't bother with the overnight fishing as the charter couldn't lift their arms by night fall. Out of the 65 yellowfin we took home 17 in the 30-50 pound class and released at least that many of that size. The rest were just above and just below 28 inches.
Oh yeah - snagged a couple big-eyes too in the morning bite - congrats guys - EPIC trip!
We were out again Sunday to Monday, Monday to Tuesday with both boats and the crowd seemingly hurt the fishing on those first trips but the 48 scratched out a nice trip with yellowfin, white marlin, makos and mah
i - the 60 scratched out a big-eye. But nothing like it was Friday when we had the place to ourselves almost.
