I am going to be bringing some kids out fishing for the day over the weekend and assume the easy thing would be to anchor up in the bay let some chum out and have them catching blues. I would rather not have to drift and reset all day while I am also going to be handling the duties of an absentee mate.
We will be coming out of the Perth Amboy area and are currently thinking of the Keyport area but we are open to any suggestions.

right outside the sailboats in keyport. There's that "keyport buoy" I believe it's a green can #11. That area is loaded

On our way back from striper fishing we've seen and caught blues the last few weeks just east of the Keansburg pier and by the sticks. Its the fist time I've ever seen blues swirling on the surface like they were sunning themselves. There were no bunker in sight just a mile of blues. Getting them to bite something was tricky. We tried bunker, whole and chunks, AVA's, Croc's and finally got action on swim shad. Even then it was hit and miss not the usual ravenous blues.

The Keyport Buoy is a green 1 can that marks then entrance to Keyport bay and is a good distance from "right outside the sailboats"
There are two 11 buoys in the general area but further north and east... The green 11 in the reach channel and the 11A which is a single buoy outside the channel and closer to the Keansberg peer.
So chart below from left to right where red circles are
- Outside Sail boats
- Keyport 1 can
- 11A Buoy
- 11 Buoy

Great, Looks like I will anchor up outside of Keyport and give it a whirl. Not sure which buoy I will start at but hoping for a good day.

Go to the #1 off Keyport and troll to 11a off Keansberg. When you find the concentration anchor up and ''chunk'' not chum. You might just get a striper also.
