Canyon Runner

Normally I'd put up the posts but I figured let's let the charter post this time - here is Bob Smith's post about the trip Tuesday to Wednesday of this week on the 60' Canyon Runner with Capt. Phil Dulanie and Craig Angelini. We were fishing south of the Washington Canyon in 71-74 degree water - most of the bites came around 600 feet. FYI - we moved our boats to Cape May last week to put our charters on the best chances to put together great catches and I think Bob's words speaks for itself that is was a great call.
His words not ours - 70 Yellowfin, Blue & White Marlin, 5 Species of Sharks, Mahi and even a Whale Shark Visit

Put out the spread in some colder 67 degree water but soon had 4,5 or 6 on a time! Found the temp break of 5 degrees and the 72 degree water had many 40-60lb yellowfin w/ us actually having up to 8 rods hooked up at a time! We also landed close to a dozen big mahi, a small white Marlin, and an estimated 450lb blue marlin. We trolled through the dark in hopes of some big eye but it wasn't in the cards for us. Decided to do some sharking overnight and immediately hooked up w/ a small hammerhead, what followed was the most action packed sharking ever! Lost count on how many we had but did have 5 species of sharks including hammerheads, Browns, blues, dusky and a 5-600lb tiger shark. No makos but the action was non-stop! Even had a 35'+ whale shark bump into the boat and turn around.the morning troll produced more multiple hookups on yellowfin w/ 8 50-60lb'ers on at once! We ended w/ around 65-70 yellowfin, about 5-6 skipjack, a huge blue marlin, white Marlin, about a dozen mahi and at least a dozen various sharks!"
Just to be perfectly clear - we did NOT kill 70 yellowfin - we released most only keeping 15 or 16 as many of them are small but we did in fact release many that were big enough to keep but the charter had more than enough meat already - good for you guys!
Bob it was great having you and Sal and the rest of the guys on the boat - I know our crew had a great time! See you soon.
