Made a last-minute decision to head out on Sunday with Pete and Andrew. I chose not to run too far from home base in Keyport because of the ridiculous wind (gusts to 30+) so I started off in the Triangle. The wind-driven drift was too fast to hold bottom with reasonable weight, so I went out to look for decent conditions. Finally wound up on the flats between South Amboy and the Morgan bridge. The wind was still honking, but we could manage in 8-12' of water. Turned out to be a good move, as we quickly dialed in on the fluke and had nonstop action for the rest of the day. Not drop and reel, but a real steady pick. Pete was high hook with around 2 dozen fish, with 3 nice keepers in the mix. They liked his holographic green teaser, but Andrew and I caught them on white bucktails with squid strips, and a smelt/strip combo. Not a bad day, but it would have been a lot more comfortable without that wind.
