Hey guys- I see them everywhere gulp spray lip glue ect ect ect

Any one actually use them?
And have an opinon?

I've always been saltwater till I moved away and back, so I'm not always so sure in sweet water- I know stinky baits for cats- and what saltwater fish like- but not so much here.
Thanks-chris

i have used the gulp minnows with either a 1/4 or 1/16oz jighead and have had some success with them. also have used gulp maggots ice fishing on marmooska jig heads for perch and sunnies.

buy a can of sardines and use the oil in the can. Save some money.

When I started getting back into freshwater as an adult, I had some craw/shad spray. It was garbage. Never caught anything on it. I do ok without the spray, so I don't see the plus side of introducing chemicals into the waters I fish. If it works for you, it works...but a lot of it has to do with being more confident in your approach because you have that stuff on than the stuff itself. Just my opinion.

Way, way way back when scents were first showing up in mass-marketing, I picked up a bunch of these flockked jig-heads at the Rockland show. I think they were called Whizkers or something like that. I never gave it much thought and hardly used them.
One day, fishing a small quarry pond in Mass with my bro-in-law, we couldn't get anything to hit. I tied on a Whizkers jighead, juiced it up with the fishy syrup stuff, and proceeded to start catching. It was that stark of a contrast. That is the only time that has ever happened for me though, and I haven't used any scent for over a decade.

I'd say that when it can help, it does, but as was mentioned before, other things are probably much more important.

I've tried a few different things, pro cure, gulp, some other stuff in a white tube with roland martin on it haha. I can think of a few situations where I clearly out fished my partner even with the same lure and then they started catching up with me after using the scent.

don't experience that too often but i can think of 3 specific times off the top of my head. I use scent/taste gel if i'm using soft plastics specifically finesse style like stick worms ect.

If nothing else it'll mask that nasty un-natural chemical plastic smell, and maybe make them hold it in there mouth a little longer giving you an extra split second to set the hook or getting that bass just nosing your lure to actually give it a taste.

an $8 tube will last you a long long time, you only use a little bit every once in a while. so i say it's worth it. as far as the brand...idk pro cure seems to be pretty good.

A can of sardines is almost two bucks and may get you a tablespoon of oil that you'd best use very soon. A tube of MegaStrike is $8 and will last you a season or two.

You'll get more oil out of it than that and you can eat the sardines. You can't eat megastrike or gulp.

Hey guys
Thanks
I did the sardines today (lunch leftovers) over my plastics. Did wrll
They seemed to just hold that extra second for the strike

But yea I can't eat that many sardines, so I'll grab a tube.

Agreed, that's why I don't touch the stuff. My wife eats the skinless boneless ones, says the omega's are good for you.

The "BEST" stuff i ever used, and continue to use is the Megastrike in the white tube, yes like Chris said, it has Roland Martin on it. It doesnt stink up your hands and boat, it's a paste which is nice because it stays on better then all other's. I use it with all my plastics and jigs. Not that I have any proof it work's, but if the fish picks up my lure and makes it hang on to it just that much longer to set the hook, that's good with me. I will tell you this, it doesnt hurt to use it, so far this year, I have caught my PB Smallie, and PB Largemouth, and a ton of fish in between, caught all of them using the Megastrike paste..... I'm SOLD!!! Just my 2 cents.

MegaStrike is what I've been using for about 5 years now. Before I discovered MegaStrike I used the Berkley attractant for years. I've never done a scientific comparison, but it seems I caught more when I started using scents. Or maybe I was becoming a better fisherman. Who knows.

My one quarrel with MegaStrike is that it stays on too good. I have number of lures that are totally gunked up with it and no longer nice and shiny. I should clean them. I suspect rubbing alcohol will do the trick.
