Shrimpman's send off

SHRIMPY IS MOVING TO FLORIDA!!!!!
So... Lets send him off with a bang!! I'm (along with Sir Gerry's help) setting up an open party boat trip on The Fishermen for SUNDAY JUNE 26. 730am. All are welcome but I am guessing that there will be a lot of you that want to go out for one final trip with Steve, before he departs NJ for good.
So if we can get a big turnout, maybe we can fill Capt Rons vessel and it can be "like" a charter.
Steve has for over 13 years now been like a brother to me. And I'm sad to see him go, but I know why he's going.... And we all in the end, do what we have to do. He's been there for me through a lot of crazy times and always had something to say that was not only correct (cause we all know Steves always right;)) but that would also make me laugh my a$$ off and put life back into perspective. I used to fish a bit as a kid w my grandfather but lost "the sickness". When I met Steve we talked about fishing and how I used to do it but hadn't gone in 10 years. He got me out on a trip not long after that and I've been the mouse in his pocket ever since. Although getting any fishing advice was, interesting, to say the least. We all know Shrimpy isn't short on words & can bust anyone's balls with the best of em.... If you've fished with the 2 of us together, you know what I'm talking about! :p
So before I get all misty eyed, I just want to say I'm grateful for getting me back out on the water again, in part of my gratitude, I am hoping that many of you will also want to come. Again, June 26.
If you do want to come, please say so here and let's see if we can fill the boat and have a great time and maybe even catch some fish!!!!!

Yes I am moving to Florida in mid July to try something different. Airboat tours bringing the tourists to see the gators. Don't know if it will work out or not but I'm rolling the dice.

I have made more friends on this site then I can count and it was not an easy decision to leave all of my good friends. I look forward to seeing whoever can make it for one of my last fishing trips up here.

I don't want to be the guy to ruin Steve's Swan Song! :) Considering I was one of the First boats Steve fished with and learned on in this area. It would be my Pleasure to send him off in the Proper Fishermen Style!!! Oh, the stories I will tell!

Hey Capt Ron!! Glad that you want to help make the trip a memorable one! I'm hoping that enough guys say that their in, & we can fill up quickly for you! Do you think maybe before the end of the trip you could drop Steve in the water? You know... Just to make a memory!!

Well I'm there when there is maybe 1-3 cars in the lot... Having said that, I didn't know how many people are going to show, and I didn't want to cost Capt Ron any $$$, and this way there was no pressure for deposits, collecting etc.... (As per Gerrys advice)
This way if anyone wants to go it would be realitivly easy. I'm all for it being chartered, but I think we need a bunch more peeps before that's gonna happen.

Yeah thats true.. Have to see how many people are going to show up first. Not to many people like Steve that much so....:D But showing up super early would be the best idea if not chartered.

Just walking in an open boat in a weekend is probably not going to give you the experience that you are looking for. As a suggestion I would send pick a day and send out a seperate post with people who are interested. Based on your headcount you can then make your plans on what boat you can charter based on availability and headcount. Means allot Of extra work on your part but for Shrimpy it will be worth it. I am sure Capt Ron or one of the smaller boats if you do not get enough response will put a nice package together for you

New Thread with maybe an RFA-NJ twist on this coming up after talking with Capt Ron, Doug (Dirty Chimney) and Gerry. In all fairness to Capt Ron and Shrimpy this trip is better off as a private charter for reasons you all if you know Steve are aware. Why ruin Rons regulars :eek: and the boat will be just "Us"
I will post soon but that means a quick commitment to sailing on Steves last NJ trip as Capt needs to know if we want to charter.
