My off the beat take is this. An average door opening is roughly 32" wide as is the threshold. mist door mats are slightly smaller or about the same size as the door opening so for argument sake I classify a 30" fluke a door mat regardless of weight. I weighed my back door mat on a Boga it came up 6 lbs. so what do you all think?

I think the standard is 10 pounds or more.

So you say it's weight? What if you have hollow doors? :D

A 30 " Fluke will will probably weigh in at 10 lbs if not more most of the time
When it comes to using the term Doormat for Fluke weight off fish must be at least 10 lbs. In my book there is no rounding off. If I had a fish that was 9 pounds 15 oz I would use say it was a big ass Fluke but would not be able to call it a Doormat

10 pounds. Which by the way I have not caught. I've had a couple of nine plus but no 10, so no door mat for me.

I concur. I've been close twice......but the scale doesn't lie. ugh.. The same can be said for running a 3:00:00 ( ugh ) or a 2:59:59 ( wow )marathon, ounces or seconds make for bragging rights. lol Dennis

In my book, you have to weigh the fish on a accurate scale to say for sure. No rounding up. A fish that looks 10 pounds aint a doormat unless it's been weighted. A dedicated angler would require this. It's not a guesstimate.

The official rule of thumb on the boats Ive worked on:

Doormat = 10 pounds and up

Floor Mat = 12 pounds and up

Bath mat = 15 pounds and up

Laundromat = 32,000 pounds and up

If you catch the last one on any braid less than 30# you get a framed certificate from the IGFA

With the doormat issue resolved (yes its 10#) the next issue to keep this thread endless is what classifies (kudos Joe for correct spelling!) a FLUKASAURUS ( no such thing so cant be spelled wrong right?)

- Keeper and a great camera;)

My first fluke was a DM--65-66 yrs ago, wouldn't fit into my net..finally got it in my outboard...Kitchen sink was a cast/porcelain combo drainboard/sink..on the drainboard, it 1/2 filled the sink...Shot my wad on that one as I've only gotten 11 keepers since...

10# on a certified scale, not a boga.

Odd as seems the IGFA will certify your boga grip and they can be used for world records.. Check they're websight. I don't agree that it should be a certified scale.

10 lbs and up. By the way the average door width is 36-34" depending on a front door or back door where you would put a door mat, not an inside bedroom door typically 30".
