I've only surf fished a few times and have never had much luck but my dad wanted to give it a try at Sandy Hook after reading reports from I don't know where. He has never surf fished but was determined to catch a striper so
5am - off we go
5:30am - flat tire on the parkway :eek::eek:No Jack in the car
7am - Firestone because who wants to drive on a donut
9am - Finally get to the fishing beach past the the ranger station

We were armed to the teeth with poppers, diamond jigs, Krocs, clams, and bunker. I stuck with drowning clams all day and was surprisingly rewarded with a nice 29in Striper. Great fight and now I'm definitely hooked on surfed fishing. Most importantly had an eventful and great day with my dad.

That looks like an awesome fish!
My first one was last year at 28" on a clam.
Cool to see that they are now in the surf there!
