Relentless Charters
05-02-2016, 06:17 AM
Good Morning,
Yesterday on the 1st of May was the opening of the 2016 Fishing Season in Federal waters. The rules were approved by NMFS on Friday, 29 April, receiving notices in the mail on 30 April. Not a way to help one in business. We did not have a charter as Capt Jim was preparing the Big Mac for the first open boat trip next Saturday.
I decide to take the center console out and we did not leave the dock until 8:40 with my son and his wife. It was a scouting trip and they had a baby to drop off early in the AM. No worries though, we headed out to Stellwagen and fished areas on the north part of the bank and landed 25 nice haddock until the tide went slack. At that time, it was time to head home with a cold SE wind. We had plenty for friends and family and the Jones Brothers was launched just the day before so it was a successful shake down cruise.
How did the charter boats make out? Well the guys who left early and had the entire tide limited out on 15 haddock per person, these fish are not large bull haddock and range from the legal 17" to 24" average with an occasional larger one thrown in. Needless say 30 fillets per man is lots of fish to take home.
It looks like the season is off to a good start and we have shared and private dates available. If anyone is interested in bending lots of rods and going home with a white morsel delicacy fishing on the 35' BIG MAC, please contact me at

Thank You and have a good day.
Respectfully,
Capt Dave
