Took a break from studying for finals to hit up a new stretch of the river yesterday and managed to catch a few Pike. Nothing of notable size, but I did manage to catch 3 around 18 inches. Even though they're not the biggest, they fought hard for their size!

I saw some BIG carp and one big pike sitting in the shallows but they took off as soon as they saw me :( Looking forward to trying this section out again.

On my way home, I stopped at another one of my local PR spots and got a bit of a surprise with some great Crappie action. For about 15 minutes I was getting hit on every cast. The biggest one below measured out just under 12 inches.

There's nice crappie and yellow perch in a few stretches. Had them take 1/2 oz spinnerbaits. Pretty wild. Nice fish and even more props on the significant landing net!

Great looking Pike! The fishing should get much better once the weather improves a bit! That's a very healthy Crappie! Good to see there's some food for the Pike to eat! Keep up the good catching man!:D

Some nice pike those are, and a bonus crappie makes it even better.

Was on PR yesterday. Awful fishing. Looks like the county or state had damn near ALL of the structure/blow downs pulled from the river. All of the fish holding structure was stacked on the bank 50 yards from the waters edge. It was disheartening. I had one follow and a hammer handle that struggled to engulf my large spinnerbait. The amount of carp was scary too. Couldn't walk 15 ft without spooking one or 12 on the shoreline. One spot was a gross mud puddle with carp rutting around like truffle pigs. A bow fisherman would get a mean work out along the stretch I was fishing.
