Looking for a good electronics guy to hook up my xm radio. I am unable to obtain the electronic serial number for the radio. The radio is interfaced through a Garmin 5212. I have contacted Garmin, they seem to think that the unit needs a software update.
Does anyone know anyone out there that services this type of problem?

Thanks for your response!
The receiver for the XM is a Kenwood. The actual receiver is in the cabin. There is a Kenwood Command link at the helm.
I thought it would be as easy as turning to channel 0 to get the electronic serial number. Boy was I wrong! The receiver does not allow me to change the XM channels. There are no menu selections for the electronic serial number.
This Kenwood receiver is linked to the Garmin. I can navigate to the XM screen, however, you cannot change the channels.
There is an XM signal, because when you turn the XM on, you get the advertising channel.
I have called XM, Kenwood and Garmin. I even tried to have XM look up the previous boat's owner to try and get the electronic serial number - no luck!
Garmin has told me that they think that the Garmin unit needs a software update.
I want to activate the XM for the music and the weather.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Jim,
Model numbers on each Kenwood component would help greatly.
Also, have you looked at the underside of the Kenwood XM receiver module, on the label, to see if the ESN is listed there?

The Kenwood is a KTS 300 MR. I have checked the radio itself to see if the ESN was listed - it was not. And I am unable to tune the radio to channel 0 to get the ESN.

And the brand/model of the XM receiver itself?

And the brand/model of the XM receiver itself?
Also, I assume you looked in the Menu of the radio for the ID as specified in the manual? "SIRIUS ID (ESN) display..."

Yes I tried. I even had multiple people try (three others), two of those guys are a lot more savvy with electronics than I am.
We downloaded the same manual that you have attached. The previous owner did not provide the original manual, and it was not written down anywhere that I could see.
That Kenwood receiver is also controlled by a Kenwood Commander KTS-RC-100MR which is at the helm.
One of the guys I mentioned is going to try the software update for the Garmin.
Thanks
Jim
