As a newbie to fishing and with young kids I see this may be a good place to take the family. Any thoughts, reviews, helpful hints. cast a surf rod or jig? Also, the tides tables, how do I use this to my benefit for the pier?
Thanks in advance.

Fishing in the P.P Canal can be fun with kids. There is a fence so its pretty safe and plenty of room for them to mess around. Fish the tides, keep it simple and bait up what there eating and you should have success. That's where I taught my older girl how to tog.

Thanks for the P.P. info. But I did mean K-burg as there is one there. I was just being sensitive to the site's sponsors ;)

In the spring it's tough at the pier until blues show and then it's really good. Fluking can be great in the summer and late summer snappier blues spots and porches keep kids busy. Call the pier, cathi is great. She'll tell u what to bring

Thank you sir!:)
They get lots of bass on that pier in the spring did well last week. Definitely worth a look. I have caught tons of bass and blues off that pier. Bring some clams and bunker and head out to the 6th light I believe (been a while) and cast east. Kathi will know for sure thelight post.
Good luck.
