Just got back from vacation and another fishing trip to remember!
Made it to Key West with my son Ron Jr., fished with Capt. Brice Barr and his brother on the Charter Boat Double Down, once again. This man is 100% fisherman and loves what we do. After the trip I had with my Dad two years ago, I knew we couldn't go wrong with Capt. Brice.
We lucked out and had the perfect day considering the wind blew everyday for a Month since I got to Florida!
On the way out we stopped to catch a tank full of live bait then headed off to the deep water (190-205ft.) in search of anything that wanted to bite. Conditions were naturally horrible with a North wind and the current running into it, lines ran up to the bow and the boat drifted across the piece we were fishing....didn't matter though, we hit the bottom and immediately had two fish on! My first Mutton of the day at 15 pounds and Ronnie had a nice Margate .
It was excellent fishing for the next 4 hours......We landed 9 Mutton Snapper, 4 Kingfish, some margate and porgies. My highlight of the day was a 26 pound Permit that like to kill me. Got that sucker in and said "let's go Home", I was whipped!
Great to fish with my Son as he has never experienced anything like this in his life. The look on his face fighting a Big mutton was priceless!!! Can't wait to get back there next year. Thanks Capt. you out did yourself once again.
