Just wondering if anyone has ever taken the trek up to Cape Cod just for a fluke trip and if it is worth it?? $170 for a 1-day trip on Helen H out of Hyannis looks to be the cheapest out there if you want to keep your own boat off the rocks!

I'm doing their 2-day Cape Codfish/Nanflukit overnighter in early August with some NJFers - can't wait !! One day on Georges Bank, another off Nantucket: cod, haddock, pollack, fluke, sea bass and hopefully halibut/wolffish. All their 2-days trips are sold out but some 1-day limited load Nantucket Fluke trips are still available.

I am on the Nantucket Fluke grounds 3-4 days a week during the summer. I know some of the members here have fished with me as well.

Yes those trips up there are hard to beat and they sell out fast. Def consider doing a charter with the Bad Influence boyz! I may be doing a few trips with them this year as well. Gonna be putting some miles on the car this summer! Even considering doing a squid trip in May/June.

Like anything else that you have to commit to in advance, you are at the mercy of the weather
I've been on that trip in July where we had the heat on in the cabin
I've had gorgeous weather
Last year my daughter and her friend were dragging 18 - 28 oz of lead due to current
It is a great trip, Matt and the other mates take great care of you

I went last year in Hyannis and it was a blast. 6 of us caught approx 500 lbs Ina day. We went with Capt Dom on Coastal Charters. I think we are going again this year. Lot of fun

Squid are not mullosks, they're cephalopods. But whatever you wand to call them they're delicious. "Philly tube steaks":D

I have enjoyed great fluke fishing off Nantucket ( on the same non-sponsor 2 day trip mentioned) for several years. We usually get a nice side catch of knucklehead sea bass up there as well. and in the interest of full disclosure, the currents on the Shoals can be fierce and we were using 20oz and over of lead to hold bottom at one point( also some monster dogfish in the catch at times ).
A high/low 1/2 oz bucktail rig with a sinker loop on the bottom is deadly off Nantucket. But folks were catching them on just about any rig. The structure in the Shoals is not sticky ( mainly mussel beds I believe) at least where we have fished. I don't remember losing any tackle to bottom structure.
And yes half or more of the anglers on board are from Jersey! One of them caught one over 15 pounds on our trip.

Yes, was looking at a popcorn rig with 2 1/2 bucktails tipped with whole squids or berkley grubs with a surgeon's loop at the bottom with the heavy lead like you mentioned. Definitely something new from Jersey fluke! By the sound of it, looks like I'll have to wait until next year to make this trip, but definitely looking forward to doing it at some point.

I have going on these trips for years now....best Fluke fishing anywhere. Most of the angers are from NJ and CT. I am going on three of these trips this year with Ytuna and Hammerhead.
I have booked a few trips/spots that I am not going to use...if you are interested let me know and I will give you the dates.
