I'm leaving next Wed for a boys trip to Los Suenos. 2 days big game and 2 days bottom/inshore for roosters, groupers etc...

I figure the big game rides are a "watch, learn, and help if you can grassopper" deal.

I want to "Bring it" with the bottom trips. What do they do out there for bottom fishing? Liveys? Dead bait on the bottom? Jigs? Plugs?

I figure I will only bring one do-it-all, yet replaceable rod and reel. Specifically my Trevala F and an Avet MXl w/50# braid. Our outfitter advised the airlines would not allow reels with line, and high end reels may disapear in checked bags. I"ll figure a way around that, probably de-spool on an old line spool and check it, or take the reel apart and check the spool.

My question is, what tackle would you bring, and how? Should I bring Gami circles? Flouro?

I really have no Idea!!

Usually sabiki up blue runners and other live baits for Roosters and troll Bonita on feathers for cut and live baits for cuberas.

If you want to reward and surprise your charter captain and are checking a bag, bring him some high end circle hooks and some floro leader. There really is no reason to bring a rod or reel, Los Suenos is very high end and the charter boats there have all the equipment you will need. I've been to some really remote spots in Costa Rica (yes they do exist) and Panama and never was dissapointed in the gear that was available. Enjoy the experience, there is lots to learn !

Jigs , both metal & BTail work fine ! Surface popper like for Stripers on Roosters!
UR trolling bost outfits should Ok , why not check with outfitter on equpitment list .
When possible I always ship to destination or initial hotel if ur staying before u leave for lodge !
Many areas well populated & no issues , if ur more remote then I try to ship Fed. Ex if possible !
Have not been there in a few years so some things may have changed !
