Nothing much as far as party boats. There is one downtown BH but it is a total rip off. Stay clear of this crook.

Spent a week in that area a few summers ago not much fishing going on.

Spent a week up there, and another at Little Deer Island just south. AWFUL FISHING. In fact its even hard to find bait shops up there.
Gin clear water 20 feet deep to the bottom and not even killies are seen. It's beautiful BUT the absolute pits for fishing.
The Arthur Kill in Elizabeth in the growing up in the 1960's-70's had better fishing.
Had to get bait from a lobster boat at Lobster Coop in Stonington.
Did I say it was the worst fishing I have ever experienced? :)
You can rent Boston Whaler Montauks at one place by Acadia

Bingo in Boothbay and Bunny Clark in Ogunquit, but they're long drives from Bar Harbor. Ogunquit is about half way between central Jersey and Bar Harbor. Both are nice areas similar to Bar Harbor.

We where up there a few years ago. Best fishing was fishing for beers at the bottom of the cooler while gorging on fresh lobsters at a roadside lobster pound after hiking/climbing the precipice.
Actually there looks like a lot of cool things you can do fishing-wise. there are a few boats codfishing 20 miles off that time of year, you will see some whales and seals which will be cool for the wife. they pull lobster traps on the way in so you'll walk off the boat with some cod fillets (its not going to be georges bank codfishing) and a few lobsters.

Going to give you some free advise, it's your honeymoon make it special and concentrate on Mrs. StriperChef and you'll have a great time. There has to be a lot of absolutely beautiful sites to see up there. Fishing will just be kicking into gear when you get back and all the time and attention you pay the Mrs. on your honeymoon will be returned tenfold when you get home. Hopefully you have one honeymoon in life, I wouldn't necessarily be concerned about fishing unless of course the misses is as avid an angler as you appear to be. Don't worry yourself about the clams they use for cod, focus on the other one and you'll have a great and memorable honeymoon.

Very tough time of the season for salt water in Maine. Why don't you do a little landlocked salmon and trout fishing. End of April is prime time/ black flies aren't bad on a lake with a little breeze( bring bug spray/ state bird out in force that time of the year. And do go to thunder hole while you are out there/ especially if you get some heavy seas...Enjoy!!!

Maine is God's country. Visited there a half dozen times years ago and remember before I started fly fishing seeing guys absolutely crush trout on a few of the many river systems. Not exactly sure where you'll be in relationship but we also fished Moosehead and Sebago lakes and the fishing was incredible for landlocked salmon, brook trout and especially small mouths. If fishing is your thing, there are many gorgeous rivers in Maine where I'm sure you could find a guide or if you have your own stuff bring it with you and have a great experience on the water. Just keep an eye out for black bear, Maine has a fairly significant population. Either way, have a great honeymoon and enjoy the scenery. Maine has much beautiful wilderness to offer!

I got engaged in Maine on a private hot air balloon ride. Landed in a farmers field to a picnic of champagne and cheese. That was twenty years ago and yes, I'm still married to the same woman. Go figure:D

Camped in Acadia one fall. Water cold and filled with life. Caught some small cod & doggies from yaks in the bay.Tide is monumental. Got big mussels when tide was out. Also got some urchins.

We were up there about 7 years ago. Not so good on the fishing but there was a lobsterman out of Bar Harbor that ran a package deal. Sightseeing around the islands and you received a number when you paid your fare. This ended up being a lobster pot number. On the way back to port they pulled your pot and whatever was in the pot that was legal was yours. We went out with two families so there was 8 of us. All said and done we walked off the boat with 9 lobster and 14 stone crab claws. The stone crabs are fair game when in the pot and they take the claws and release the crab to regenerate its claws. Very cool trip and what a feast when we got home.

Don't bother fishing.Snagged some mackerel once in the Penobscot Bay. Dragged it around "live lining" until it died of old age.
Although catching the mackerel with sabaki rig with my daughter in a kayak was fun!
I don't even bring my rod up anymore.

Whale watching on catamaran from town, dining at 123 Cottage St, Sunrise on top of Cadillac Mt, pop overs on the lawn of Jordan's Pond in Acadia, Thunder Hole, Peregrine falcons on Precipice Trail...I will think of more, but awesome place to go. Best of luck and enjoy your honeymoon. You have the rest of your life to enjoy fishing!!!!
