I have seen very little info on Ling lately.. The 2 boats that are bottom fishing but not primarily targeting Blackfish haven't updated their reports in some time.. From the little I have been able to find out, Ling fishing hasn't been great.. I REALLY want to get down to NJ, next "weather window", but would prefer Ling/Cod , not tog... Has anyone been out past few weeks for Ling/Cod etc... bob

No ling around. Last few times togging on the NK3 the Dauntless was there trying for blackfish. Boats targeting cod are getting some.

If the reports aren't "updated", that usually means the fishing is not good.

I have checked a few spots that should have ling and we see none or maybe one. Had some congos but no ling. When we had them in 2013 I found them in the middle of January and it was a mild winter and we had very good ling fishing. It is getting late and I do not know where they will come from but I will be in the right area this coming weekend. George Angler

Went on the larger NS out of Pt Pleasant this past Wednesday targeting Cod. My guess is a dozen plus keeper cod were boated, nothing big. Lots of HUGE Sea Bass went back. Very few Ling. Huge Porgies filled our cooler, 48 for the 3of us plus a couple of Ling and a Bluefish. Dogs were a nuisance here and there throughout the day.

I was out on Thursday offshore not a single ling but plenty of Huge Porgies & Sea Bass that had to go back plus a few Cod & Pollock noting too big on that side either. There are still some Bluefish around plus the grey dogs. I feel once the dogs & Bluefish move off the Ling fishing will get better but the water is way too warm for this time of the year. We got some real cold nights coming for the next week or so maybe the warm water predators will move off & the winter fishery will kick off.

I see one of the Brielle boats updated on the 9th.

"Little choppy out there especially this morning still managed to pic some nice Cod, Ling, Porgies and Seabass with a light crowd Pool winner was xxxxx with a beautiful 30 pound Cod. "

This time of year anything can happen. We all know the loooooooong drive you have to take to get here.
