Thursday 12/31 Capt Darren and Mate Aj on the boat due to me being under the weather. Fishing was tough just like the day before. Darren made some moves and wiggles all day only picking at some fish throughout the day, finishing up with 18 keepers.

We did not sail on New Years Day.

Saturday 1/2 we had Lynn's annual birthday blackfish trip. And of course it was another good one! The boys caught shorts and keepers all day, most were nice size roasters. Paul, well he had a fantastic day. Not only was he high hook with 10 keepers, he also landed a slob 14lb female, that he released safely. We finished up the day nice and early with over 40 keepers, only keeping our 8 man boat limit of 32.

Sunday 1/3 we had Sal Vaccaros crew of novice toggers out. First stop was non stop bites. Good bites. In fact, very good bites. But they just couldn't seem to get the hang. I'm still sick so I didn't have any energy to fish 😢. The bites fizzled out as the day went on for us. Made another stop and it was the same. The 6 man crew caught only a Few shorts and a dozen keepers on the day. Can't win em all, but nice effort men.

Happy New Year! Thanks Guys.

Well the boys on Fish Stix pulled off another fantastic trip for us. Can't thank Kris and Darren enough for pulling off another memorable trip when both were feeling pretty bad with fever and sore throats. There was still some great ball busting and good laughs. Thanks for another great birthday.

Well it finally happened ,the crown of king of the throwbacks has been passed on to my nephew Alex, 2nd from right in the back row of the group shot. Thanks to captain Kris and captain Darren for the best blackfishing trip that I've ever been a part of. When I hooked the big girl I had to boost up the lever drag on the Avet sx to pull her head up from her rocky haven, once I turned her I backed off a little bit and let the Kevin Bogan Fish Poison rod give me the shock absorbsion I needed to not tear the hook from her mouth, and then Darren slipped the net around her, what a fight. When the scale was nudged to 14 pounds I couldn't believe it and when we put her back in the water she was healthy as a horse. That was a great feeling. I like to keep the eaters and release the breeders. I will be fishing with these guys again. Thanks Kevin for the accolades but, I will have to catch a lot more of those pigs to catch up to you.

You couldn't ask for a better day. First drop the fish where chewing but it took me a while to knock the rust off. I had not been out for blacks in two years. After several attempts I finally put one in the boat, it was a throw back but a moral victory for me. To sum up I put about 12 or 13 more fish in the boat had one nice keeper about 6 or 7 pounds, this was by far the best black fishing trip I've had ever. . Thank you again Lynn for inviting me and happy birthday, and thank you Captain Kris and Darren it was a fantastic day you will definitely see me again this year. Kudos to you Paul for landing that 14 pound slob and breaking your king of the throwbacks curse and passing it on to me.

Way to go Paul... If anyone deserves a fish like that it's you!! You put in your time, got the right bite, had the right equipment and played the fish just right.

Congrats on a great fish and the release.
